Tottenham new manager: Potter odds slashed again after Postecoglou bombshell

Graham Potter is now the strong favourite to replace Ange Postecoglou in the Tottenham dugout, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

On 15 December, the 49-year-old former Chelsea manager was priced at 4/1 to succeed Postecoglou at Spurs. However, PaddyPower has now slashed the odds to 2/1.

Potter, who has been out of work since being dismissed by Chelsea in April 2023, is the resounding favourite with Eddie Howe (9/1), Andoni Iraola and Kieran McKenna (both 10/1) next in the running.

After Spurs’ 1-0 defeat away at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, the bookies dropped a bombshell with Postecoglou, for the first time, becoming the favourite in the Premier League sack race.

William Hill had the Aussie priced at 12/1 to be the next top-flight manager to leave his role but since that loss to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, he’s now priced at 3/1.

Will Tottenham sack Ange Postecoglou?

It’s really hard to see how Spurs can keep on getting such poor results without sacking their manager.

After the 1-0 loss at Forest on 26 December, Tottenham are 11th in the Premier League table.

Despite this, only league-leading Liverpool (40) have outscored Spurs (39), who have also lost as many games (9) as Ipswich Town in 19th.

Those stats sum up just how all-over-the-place Spurs are.

But will Spurs sack the former Celtic manager?

As it stands, it seems like the possibility is growing.

Daniel Levy won’t accept another season without European football after Spurs failed to qualify for continental competition in 2022/23 when they finished eighth in the Premier League.

When you look at the Premier League table, there are teams who are above Spurs that you wouldn’t normally see there but are flying.

Forest are one of them, Newcastle have found their stride, Bournemouth are on fie and Fulham and Brighton are also doing fairly well.

Brentford and West Ham are then level on points with Spurs in 12th and 13th with Manchester United just one less in 14th.

It’s possible that Spurs start the New Year just above the relegation zone, which is totally unacceptable that could be when Levy pulls the trigger.
