Tottenham transfer: Winger has English lessons ahead of 1 January official move

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for the official arrival of young winger Yang Min-hyeok as he undergoes English lessons ahead of his arrival, according to The Athletic.

Among a huge transfer round-up, Jay Harris [26 December] says the 18-year-old, who officially joins on 1 January, is working hard to adapt to life in England having already moved from South Korea.

Yang is expected to join up with the Under-21 setup in North London after Spurs agreed a deal with the Gangwon FC star back in July, though with Ange Postecoglou dealing with a lengthy injury list, his pathway may have to be accelerated.

It seems endearing for Tottenham fans that an exciting Korean winger will be officially joining the club within a matter of days.

Yang will have enjoyed his football upbringing like many in his nation, idolising Son Heung-min and subsequently paying particular attention to Spurs and their captain’s heroics on the field.

The teenager will feel like the chosen one, the possible next generation who can one day walk in the footsteps of his nation’s hero – especially with his positional similarities.

However, it’s hugely unlikely Yang will have a meaningful impact in the Premier League this season, and Postecoglou needs a vast improvement in results; Tottenham fans are pressurising their club into January market activity to immediately improve the squad.

Injuries and inconsistency have blighted the side, who must now remedy the situation by strengthening in a notoriously difficult winter market, where transfers often arrive late as a domino effect.
