Tottenham winger Mikey Moore has signed his first professional contract with the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist reported on his X account [12 August] that the “huge potential” youth player has committed his long-term future to Tottenham.
Moore, who turned 17 on Sunday [11 August] has been at the club for ten years and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects at the Tottenham Hotspur Training Academy.
Mikey Moore signs first professional contract at Tottenham
The 17-year-old has been a phenomenon for the academy. He recorded 14 goals and eight assists in 12 appearances in the U18 Premier League as well as two goals and one assist in two FA Youth Cup appearances.
He became the club’s youngest-ever player to make a Premier League appearance when coming off the bench against Manchester City in May at 16 years, nine months and three days old.
Ange Postecoglou rewarded the England U17 international for his development over the past yea, and he repaid that faith with his first senior goal for the club in the pre-season match against Hearts [17 July].
All the focus will be on the performances of summer signing Dominic Solanke this season but Moore’s emergence into the first-team fold at 17 cannot be understated.
The Europa League will provide the perfect platform for players such as Moore to showcase their talents and give a respite to the senior members of the squad.
Postecoglou will be under intense pressure to deliver in North London this season as he looks to improve on last season’s fifth-place finish in the league, but he is also building for the future, and securing Moore on a new long-term deal is the mark of an exciting new era at Tottenham.
