Tottenham Sources: Big Fofana update tonight

Tottenham Hotspur have registered their interest in signing Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

However, despite Spurs’ interest, they lag behind AC Milan in the race to sign him.

The Italian giants are continuing talks this week as they advance on a deal, while Spurs sources say the club are prepared to wait in the background in case discussions collapse.

The 25-year-old is out of contract with AS Monaco next summer, making this an ideal window to sell him and make a profit if the club cannot agree on a new contract.

Tottenham Hotspur would benefit from Fofana’s presence

The France international would offer strength and experience to the Spurs midfield if the London-based club could secure him.

Fofana was a regular feature for AS Monaco last season, playing 32 games in Ligue 1, during which time he scored four goals and created just as many assists.

However, while Spurs are looking at Fofana, Ange Postecoglou is “obsessed” with adding a top striker to his squad this season, as Keith Wyness explained to Football Insider.

Interestingly, while Tottenham are battling it out with Milan to sign Fofana, Spurs are actually hoping to work with the Italian side on another deal.

Football Insider revealed that the Premier League club are holding out for £20million for Emerson Royal and are in communication with Milan about making a deal happen.

In other news, Tottenham Hotspur have made a decision on Cristian Romero amidst Real Madrid’s interest.
