Tottenham Hotspur have already started putting their plans together for the upcoming transfer windows as they look to bolster Ange Postecoglou’s squad.
Spurs have made their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 16 years although whilst results have not been ideal, the team’s performances have left much reason to be optimistic.
The North London club seem in full support of their Australian manager and are looking for new ways to back him in the transfer window.
With the Lilywhites back in Europe, adding bodies to the squad could be important to help them fight on all fronts and a new target has just been identified.
Tottenham target La Liga striker
Tottenham are targeting a move for Espanyol striker Javi Puado who is out of contract in the summer, according to Diario AS.
Several other clubs, including Sevilla, are interested in the forward who has made a promising start to life back in the Spanish top flight.
The 26-year-old played a key role in helping the Catalan club return to La Liga last season as he netted 13 times in the league.
Puado has made a strong start to the campaign netting three goals in his first eight games for a team battling relegation. Back in November 2023, CIES listed him as one of ‘the best finishers in the world’ with a conversion rate of 35 percent.
The Espanyol captain has been partnered in attack with Spurs’ loanee and talented young frontman Alejo Veliz who has also been impressing in Spain.
Spurs have just brought in a striker in Dominic Solanke over the summer, however, Puado is a versatile forward who can also play on the wing and would offer competition for the club-record signing.
Which position is a priority for Tottenham?
One of Tottenham’s biggest priorities for the next transfer window needs to be signing an elite-level winger who can compete with Heung-min Son.
At 32, Son is getting towards the latter stages of his career and finding a player who is capable of replacing him will be important.
The South Korean forward has one year left on his contract, although Spurs do have the option to extend it by an additional 12 months.
