Tottenham Hotspur face an already key clash with West Ham United after the international break as Ange Postecoglou looks to turn the team’s form around.
Spurs have made their worst start to a Premier League campaign in 16 years but optimism remains in North London with performances having at least shown glimpses of promise.
Before the intentional break, Postecoglou’s side suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Brighton as they threw away a two-goal lead.
Next up is a London derby against West Ham and Postecoglou will be hoping for some positive injury news ahead of the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Heung-min Son, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert injury updates
Heung-min Son is due back in Tottenham training at some stage this week and will be assessed ahead of the game, according to Football.London.
The South Korean forward has missed Spurs’ last three matches with a hamstring injury he suffered in the Europa League clash with Qarabag.
He could now potentially make his return against the Hammers, although assessments will need to take place on how his hamstring is in the first few sessions back.
The report adds that Richarlison is expected to join the 32-year-old back in training within the next week, however, the game against Julen Lopetegui’s side is likely to have come too soon.
The Brazilian will have his eyes on the clash but the Lilywhites’ medical team are likely to take a cautious approach with the forward given his continuous setbacks. The former Everton star has already missed eight games this term.
Finally, Wilson Odobert is set to hand Postecoglou another injury boost as he is also due to be back training this week. The Frenchman may be targeting a return against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.
How could Tottenham line up against West Ham?
Of the three returning injured players, Son is the only one expected to start against the East London club replacing Timo Werner.
The Spurs captain’s absence has been a big blow with Werner disappointing in the three appearances he has made whilst filling in for the attacker.
There have been calls for Djed Spence and Radu Dragusin to come in for Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie after the Brighton defeat, but the Aussie coach is set to stick with the same back-four.
Tottenham’s predicted line-up vs West Ham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Bentancur, Maddison, Kulusevski; Johnson, Son, Solanke.
