Tottenham to join major battle to hire Eddie Howe amid Amanda Staveley situation

Tottenham could join the race to hire Eddie Howe if Amanda Staveley succeeds with her to buy a stake at the club, according to Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Spurs are on Staveley’s radar as she looks to reinvest the £500million she received from selling her share in Newcastle.

However, the proposed buy-in is still a few weeks from completion, the journalist reported via his Patreon on Sunday (13 October).

Should the plan go through and Staveley get into a position of power, Tottenham could join England in the race to hire Howe.

Tottenham to eye Eddie Howe as Ange Postecoglou replacement

Spurs have had an underwhelming start to the season under Ange Postecoglou, winning just three of their first seven Premier League games.

With the North London club sitting ninth in the table, the Greek-Australian is under increasing pressure to improve things, although John Wenham thinks otherwise.

Staveley could be tempted by the idea of axing Postecoglou and bringing in a new manager to freshen things up after her buy-in.

The British business executive is a huge fan of Howe from her time at Newcastle and is seemingly pondering a reunion at Spurs.

Howe would reportedly be at the “top of their wishlist” if Postecoglou does not turn things around at the club.

England, meanwhile, want Howe to take charge as their new head coach following Gareth Southgate’s exit.

However, he has so far been reluctant about taking the job as he feels he is too young to move into international management.

While the Three Lions remain in the mix, Staveley’s relationship with Howe could give her an advantage in the race.
