Tottenham transfer news as ‘significant’ Dario Osorio update shared

Tottenham are sending scouts to monitor FC Midtjylland forward Dario Osorio with a potential move lined up for next summer, according to GiveMeSport.

The news outlet reported on Friday [1 November] that Spurs have entered the frame for the highly-coveted forward’s signature after being attracted by his style of play and “lovely left foot”.

Osorio has been making waves in Denmark, contributing three goals and one assist as his side leads the Superliga and are well in contention to finish in the top eight of the Europa League with an unbeaten start to the campaign.

The report adds that Midtjylland could now be forced “into making a significant decision over his future”.

Ange Postecoglou is in uncharted territory in North London as the Tottenham boss already has one eye on the upcoming transfer windows.

While Spurs have struggled to find form in the Premier League with four wins and four losses in the opening nine fixtures, there are few players within the realms of possibility that could improve upon the current crop of players.

However, Postecoglou has seemingly identified competition on the flanks as a weakness in his side. With Brennan Johnson enjoying a remarkable resurgence, recruiting a young, dynamic option to challenge for a starting berth is the criteria.

Osorio is the perfect candidate at 20, available at a reported cut-price fee of £8million, but he is hardly flying under the radar in Europe. Spurs would have to compete with Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid to land the Chilean.

Tottenham do, however, have the upper hand as things stand, with club representatives in regular attendance in Midtjylland, and barring the exception of Manchester United, the competition for a starting berth is less fierce than at the other interested clubs.

Postecoglou may be forced into a last-minute decision. Spurs are unwilling to enter negotiations in January as they continue to rue the rule on his ability to succeed in the Premier League, opening the door for a rival to steal the march for his acquisition.

Osorio must make the most important decision of his young career in the coming months – if he could become even half the player Tottenham believes he can be, why wait until the summer?
