Bournemouth are closing in on completing a deal to sign Juventus defender Dean Huijsen, sources have told Football Insider.
The 19-year-old is currently undergoing a medical at the Premier League club and is set to sign a six-year deal.
Sources claim an official announcement of the signing could come early next week.
Huijsen made his debut for Juventus against AC Milan last October, which was his only appearance for the club before going out on loan.
The central defender spent the second half of the season at Roma, where he made 13 appearances and scored two goals.
He is set to be Bournemouth’s sixth summer signing as Andoni Iraola looks to take his team to the next level.
Last season he guided the Cherries to a 12th-placed finish, where the club reached a best-ever points tally of 48.
Bournemouth are bolstering their defensive qualities with Dean Huijsen
Huijsen will add defensive quality to the Bournemouth squad, which is an area for the team to improve on next season.
Only four teams conceded more goals than the Cherries last season in the Premier League, with three of those being relegated to the Championship.
Huijsen made his Spain Under 21s debut earlier this year, in what was a breakout season for him internationally and at club level.
The teenager isn’t the only defender that Bournemouth are monitoring in this summer though.
Football Insider previously revealed that the Cherries and Stoke City have registered their interest in Celtic’s Bosun Lawal.
