Vitalii Mykolenko has been one of the better players at Everton this season despite their struggles, but Sean Dyche will certainly be worried after his performance for Ukraine against Georgia.

The left-back started against the Crusaders away from home on 16 November in the Nations League, with an own-goal from Solomon Kverkveliya giving the visitors the lead before Georges Mikautadze equalised as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Mykolenko, like other Everton defenders, has found his feet this season in recent weeks after four consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

Since then, the Toffees have a relatively better record in the league, losing just one in seven and keeping three clean sheets.

The Blues’ defensive solidity was once again on show in a rather dull 0-0 draw against West Ham on 9 November, and while it wasn’t pleasing to the eyes, there were some positives in the match.

Vitalii Mykolenko struggle for Ukraine concerning for Everton

With confidence already low at Goodison regarding Dyche, Mykolenko’s display against Georgia won’t help, with the defender recording zero per cent crossing accuracy, completing just one of his seven attempted long balls and winning just 33 per cent of his ground duels, as per FotMob.

While the 25-year-old had 83 per cent passing accuracy, with the modern full-back expected to contribute in attack, he disappointed with an xA of 0.01 and created zero chances.

The defender was also suspect at the back, committing one found and picking up a yellow card, being dribbled past once and attempting just one tackle, which he lost.

The Goodison faithful will hope that Mykolenko doesn’t bring the dip in form back to Merseyside from international duty as they look to increase the gap with the relegation zone when they face Brentford on 23 November.

In other Everton news, the club have made a decision on Jake O’Brien ahead of the January transfer window.
