James Maddison has caught the eye with an excellent all-round performance for Tottenham against Brentford on Saturday 21 September.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are back to winning ways after coming back from behind to secure all three points against the Bees.
Spurs went 1-0 through Bryan Mbeumo after less than a minute but goals from Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and Maddison were enough for a 3-1 victory.
The Englishman has been picked out for his involvement on the game as he grabbed his first Premier League goal since March 2024.
James Maddison shines for Tottenham against Brentford
After two league games without a win, it was positive for Spurs to bounce back with a better result than last time out against Arsenal.
Maddison certainly caught the eye with Micky Hazard picking the midfielder out for particular praise on X (22 September).
The ex-Spurs and Chelsea player said: “Great to see James Maddison back to his very best and a pleasure to watch.”
There is good reason that the 27-year-old has been praised as he was the heartbeat of the Spurs side throughout the showing against the Bees.
This saw the former Leicester City man complete 45 passes with an 88 per cent accuracy, he then went on to create three chances for his teammates [FotMob].
Despite starting deeper, he still pushed forward regularly which allowed him to get two shots off with a 100 per cent accuracy rate which eventually resulted in a third Spurs goal.
There was no surprise to see the attacking midfielder pick up the ball and complete seven dribbles which helped his side get out against a Brentford side pressing hard.
Postecoglou will be pleased to have seen the ex-Coventry man get involved defensively in his new role as he won 14 duels, the most on the pitch.
He also contributed by winning one tackle and making two clearances and one interception which was needed against a dangerous away side.
It was a positive performance on the whole from Spurs with their number ten being the key man to secure a much needed win.
