Glenn Hoddle has lauded Dejan Kulusevski for his dummy run to free up Brenan Johnson to score for Tottenham against Ferencvaros.

Spurs continued their positive start to life in the Europa League with a 2-1 win, this time in Budapest on Thursday 3 October.

It wasn’t easy for Ange Postecoglou’s men with a late goal from the in-form Welshman the difference between the two sides.

Johnson grabbed his fifth goal in as many games but while speaking on TNT Sports, Hoddle picked out his teammate Kulusevski for his unselfish run off the ball.

He said: “This is a great run from Kulusevski, just creates the space for Johnson. Doesn’t try to hit too hard, goes for placement. Just caresses it into the corner. A wonderful finish.”

The Swede came off the bench and ultimately made an impact which helped his side to ease to victory against the Hungarian outfit.

In his 25 minutes on the pitch, the 24-year-old still managed to get 18 touches on the ball which he utilised to make nine passes with a 75 per cent accuracy [FotMob].

Kulusevski wasn’t playing it safe after being brought on as he completed two passes into the final third with 100 per cent of his long balls reaching their target.

The forward did have an effort on goal which was blocked but it was his unselfish work off the ball to free up space to allow Johnson to score with his third strike on goal.

Postecoglou trusted the former Juventus man to help win the game and this saw him help out Archie Gray and Christian Romero in defence as well as going forward.

With one tackle and two duels won the Aussie manager can be pleased with his substitute and the positive impact they had as a duo.
