View: 68% Tottenham star surely left Ange seething after what he did v Forest

Ange Postecoglou will not have been happy with Dominic Solanke as Tottenham crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.

The England international started once again up front for the North Londoners but could not make an impact as Anthony Elanga’s strike was enough for the Tricky Trees.

In recent weeks, Postecoglou has struggled to bring the best out of his team, and the Australian’s future has come under the spotlight.

Solanke’s performance was abysmal during the opening 45 minutes against Nuno Espirito Santo’s team, and he continued the abject showing for the rest of the fixture.

The 27-year-old made a big-money move to Spurs in the summer from Bournemouth but has been inconsistent since then, likely leaving Postecoglou fuming at points.

Dominic Solanke disastrous in Nottingham Forest v Tottenham

The Englishman played the full 90 minutes on 26 December, making 49 touches and completing 68 per cent of his passes, as per FotMob.

Spurs were unable to rely on their striker as he had an xG of 0.12, a zero per cent shooting accuracy, failed two of his dribbling attempts and was dispossessed four times.

The centre-forward was also weak in his challenges for Tottenham, winning just 25 per cent of his aerial battles and losing 60 per cent of his ground duels.

Postecoglou has handed the 27-year-old 15 starts in the Premier League, but he has only found the back of the net six times.

Spurs have been searching for a replacement for Harry Kane since his move to Bayern Munich, and it looks like Solanke might not be the answer to the Lilywhites’ attacking woes.

Richarlison’s injury issues have also not helped, and Daniel Levy is responsible for the shoddy recruitment at the North London outfit.
