Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou will want to avoid any injury scares before the 2024/25 campaign kicks off in August.
However, with pre-season starting and players attempting to reach full match fitness, fighting for their place in the manager’s lineup, and attempting to impress, some injuries are bound to happen.
Spurs came through the 5-1 victory against Hearts relatively unscathed, but the same cannot be said for the 2-0 win over QPR on Friday 20 July as Lucas Bergvall was substituted after just 26 minutes.
Speaking in his post-match press conference [Tottenham Hotspur], Postecoglou said: “He’s just a bit sore. I don’t think it’s anything significant.
“Again, for him, and Archie, this is all new to them, the way we train, we have to look after them. But, as I said, I don’t think it’s anything significant.”
Tottenham handed early Lucas Bergvall concern v QPR
While it is still early days for the 18-year-old, Bergvall already seems to be fitting in well at Spurs, notching an assist during the 5-1 win at Tynecastle Park before starting against QPR.
With a number of friendly matches still to come before the Premier League campaign kicks off, the Sweden international will have plenty of time to recover and fans will be hoping that Postecoglou’s assessment right.
The midfielder brought an exciting burst of energy onto the pitch with him against Hearts, creating three chances (two of which were big chances), making eight passes into the final third and assisting Mikey Moore’s goal [FotMob].
He also completed 88 per cent of his passes and 100 per cent of his crosses, while taking command in the middle of the park with 55 touches.
This will come as no surprise to the fans who have researched the new addition to Postecoglou’s squad, who notched three goals and one assist in 12 league matches in Sweden before departing Djurgarden [FotMob].
Bergvall also maintained an 89 per cent pass completion and was successful with 62 per cent of his attempted dribbles, which are stats that will be useful in the Premier League next term.
In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou could hand Emerson Royal a new chance after what he did.
