Yves Bissouma appears to have picked up an injury ahead of the clash with Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (15 September).
Postecoglou will already be sweating over the fitness of Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke ahead of the visit of Spurs’ North London rivals.
And it looks as if the Australian could now have a fresh injury concern.
While in action for Mali during their 1-0 win over Eswatini in 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifying action on Tuesday (10 September), Bissouma was forced off in the 64th minute.
As per Les Aigles Du Mali via X (10 September), “(Yves) Bissouma on the ground after a big sole he gives up his place to Mamadou Sangare”
“Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.”
Just like Mali supporters, Postecoglou and Tottenham supporters will also be hoping the injury is nothing serious.
Spurs haven’t made the best of starts to the 2024/25 campaign, with just four points on the board after three matches. Therefore, this upcoming clash with Arsenal feels crucial, and Postecoglou’s side could really use Bissouma in midfield.
Ange Postecoglou to be without Yves Bissouma for Tottenham against Arsenal?
Bissouma has been in fine form for club and country across the past four matches.
Before picking up an injury against Eswatini on Tuesday, the 28-year-old got himself on the scoresheet after just seven minutes, scoring what would eventually prove to be the matchwinner.
It was his second goal in two games for Mali during the current international break, and his third in four for club and country after he scored his first Spurs goal during the 4-0 thrashing of Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (24 August).
As well as his strike against Eswatini, he also completed 95 per cent of his passes, with five of those key, and succeeded with five of his eight dribble attempts (Sofascore).
In addition, he won seven of his 12 ground duels and made one tackle.
This follows on from his performance during Mali’s 1-1 draw with Mozambique on Friday (6 September) during which he completed 84 per cent of his passes, with two of those key, and won three ground duels in addition to his goal.
It appears as though the midfielder is finally finding some consistency. As a result, Postecoglou will be desperate to have him fit for the North London derby.
Should Bissouma miss out, it could derail his form and growing confidence.
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou should keep an eye on one “incredible” player on loan from the club after what happened recently.
