Philippe Clement has made a huge decision as Rangers take on St Mirren at Ibrox on 27 October at Ibrox.
The Belgian who’s under tremendous pressure as his side are nine points off the top of the table, has opted to drop James Tavernier.
This is undoubtedly a perfect decision as the Englishman has struggled at right-back for months.
Neraysho Kasanwirjo named in the Rangers XI
Neraysho Kasanwirjo has come in for Tavernier and this was the decision fans have been calling out for.
By dropping the captain, Clement’s chances of being sacked have dramatically reduced.
The under-fire Cyriel Dessers has also been benched with Hamza Igamane named in the starting eleven.
Gers must secure all three points against St Mirren to close the gap on league leaders Celtic and Aberdeen.
Given St Mirren’s recent poor form and historical struggles against the Ibrox outfit, a victory is expected.
However, Clement’s side need to start the game strongly to quell any potential upset.
An early goal could set the tone, allowing Rangers to control the match and alleviate the pressure on Clement.
A dominant performance from the outset will not only boost team morale but also send a clear message of their title aspirations.
In other Rangers news, Gers look set to be limited by UEFA as a 70% cap has been revealed on multi-million investment.
