View: Clement decision proven right on player who left Rangers this summer amid contract reports

Philippe Clement’s decision to release Borna Barisic from Rangers looks to have been the right one with the defender set to leave Trabzonspor after just five months.

The Croatian has started just one league game since his move to Turkey, with Trabzonspor reportedly set to mutually terminate his contract , according to the Daily Record.

His departure from Ibrox in the summer, alongside that of John Lundstram, looks to have been justified in one of the very few good decisions from Clement.

Borna Barisic decision at Rangers seems justified

Barisic was one of several players to have seen their contracts expire at Ibrox over the past summer and at the time, the occasional question mark was plastered over his exit although the latest developments seem to have put those doubts to the side.

The Croatian was a regular at Rangers ever since his arrival back in the 2018/19 season although his performance levels started to dip just before his eventual exit.

Alongside Lundstram, he made the switch to Trabzonspor and the move just hasn’t worked out for either player who haven’t reached acceptable performance levels since signing.

Early exits look not only possible but very likely for the ex-Gers duo and it looks as if Clement made the right call.

At 32 years old, Barisic could find a new club in January, although his lack of game time could put off potential suitors who expressed an interest in the left-back after his Ibrox exit.
