Rangers ace Vaclav Cerny has been lauded by Czechia media after his display in their 0-0 stalemate against Albania on Saturday.
The Wolfsburg loanee played 65 minutes of the clash on 16 November and before he was hooked, the attacker made his presence more than known.
The 27-year-old has been a regular feature for Philippe Clement’s team this term and has often found himself dubbed as one of the Gers’ best players.
Reporting via the iSport website (17 November), the Czechia media outlet rated him a six out of 10 and touched on the “freedom” he showed in his performance.
“He confirmed that he has hit the ground running at Rangers. He was one of the most active offensively, he shot dangerously in the second half,” they wrote.
“Did you notice how he was taking the ball left-handed? He has freedom, which is a good sign”.
In another article on the iSport website (17 November), the outlet went into some further details about how his performance helped the team.
“The Czechs alternated high pressing, in which offensive players Chorý, Šulc or Černý played a big role, with a deep block,” they added.
“Just so that the four-man defence is not surprised by a quick counterattack”.
Vaclav Cerny has proven his worth to Rangers
While it may have taken him some time to hit the ground running at Ibrox, in recent weeks, the attacker has been one of Clement’s best players.
Cerny, alongside Rangers team-mate Cyriel Dessers are among the top scorers at the club and when they’re on top form, they have more than proven their worth to the Gers.
The Wolfsburg man may only be on loan for the 2024/25 season but if his form carries on like this across the rest of the season, it’s hard to see how the Gers won’t make a move to ensure his stay becomes permanent.
Of course, there have been times when he’s left a lot to be desired but that’s just part of football, some days players will have poor outings and others they’ll be clinical match-winners.
Cerny’s recent displays will have certainly created a few questions in Clement’s head and will have likely opened his eyes up to how important the Czechia international is to the team.
