Farhad Moshiri will need to choose between several candidates as the new Everton owner, with the takeover rumours continuing to swirl.

Lifelong Evertonians Andy Bell and George Downing are said to be partnering up with Michael Dell, as per the Daily Mail [8 June, page 111], and are hoping that they can be granted exclusivity in the coming days.

However, the latest update has thrown that news up in the air, with Alan Myers reporting [8 June] that AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin is interested in purchasing the club from Moshiri this summer.

The American businessman, who has earned his £4.8billion fortune in the film, motor and hotel industries, seems to have staked his claim at the perfect time before Moshiri made a key decision at Goodison Park.

Fans have seen the drama that can occur when a party is granted exclusivity, with 777 Partners’ takeover bid falling through spectacularly after initially registering their interest in September, which stopped others from progressing their bids.

Although Bell and Downing would certainly be a decent option to take Moshiri’s spot as owner, all options must be assessed before making a final decision, mainly due to there being so much at stake.

Dan Friedkin enters Everton takeover frame

Having bought AS Roma for £553million in 2020, as per Sky Sports, Friedkin already has a strong knowledge of how to run a club that regularly competes in Europe and has finished in sixth place in Serie A for the last three seasons.

Of course, Bell and Downing would have the club’s interests at heart, being supporters of the Toffees, but Friedkin may be able to offer more insight and information than the duo.

With Moshiri set to make a decision on granting them exclusivity in the next few days, the owner must now contemplate what Friedkin can bring to the table, especially with his current experience in Italy.

While John Textor is also said to be involved in the takeover situation, he has confirmed to Goodison News that he is not a front-runner to buy Everton and never was.

Many fans will be keen for the Everton-supporting duo to take control of the club, though Friedkin’s experience and knowledge need to be considered before any final decision is made.

In other Everton news, an investment claim has emerged as a takeover timeline is mooted.
