Ex-Everton employee: Senior player wants to retire at Goodison Park

Bryan King claims Everton defender Seamus Coleman wants to retire at Goodison Park.

The ex-Blues scout believes the 35-year-old could be useful behind the scenes once his playing career is over.

Coleman recently put pen to paper on a new one-year contract extension with the Toffees.

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has piled praise on the Everton captain.

“This might be the last season that he is offered a new contract,” King said.

“He is a big part of the club and players around him can take great inspiration from his time at Goodison Park.

“He obviously wants to end his playing days with Everton and good luck to him.

“Coleman has great knowledge, so it would be a great benefit if he is used in the academy set-up after he retires.”

Will Seamus Coleman retire with Everton at Goodison Park?

This is set to be the Toffees’ final year playing their football at Goodison Park.

It has already been confirmed that Coleman will captain Everton into the 2024/25 campaign – his 16th season with the club – although it remains to be seen whether he will extend his time beyond that.

Coleman is a true modern-day Everton legend and a player who truly embodies what it means to represent the club.

It would be fitting if he were to end his career at Goodison Park, and there is a very good chance that he will.

Once his playing days are behind him, a role in coaching does seem as if it would be suited to the Irishman, and what better place for him to share his wisdom than at Finch Farm?

In other Everton news, the club are set for a “very strong” financial boost after a takeover update at Goodison Park.
