Everton fans must now be worried about the future of Jarrad Branthwaite as Sean Dyche has admitted that if a big enough offer comes in for any of his players before the takeover is completed then they’ll likely be sold.

The Toffees’ star boy was under a lot of interest in the summer with Manchester United being the team most strongly linked with a move.

While Dyche has admitted that it would be a “new decision” for The Friedkin Group to make when they eventually take over, this still raises concerns about the centre-back’s future in the time being.

Speaking to the Liverpool ECHO (8 November) Dyche shared his verdict on the future of the 22-year-old.

“It certainly won’t be anything to do with me – bids for the players. Any bids for the players will not be anything to do with me. You know – or you can imagine – the financial situation here,” he said.

“So we have already had to sell players here I didn’t want to sell. That is just part of the current business of the club.

“I haven’t met them [The Friedkin Group], I haven’t spoken to them, I don’t know any of their plans, their thoughts or feelings about the club at this time or the finances. So that would clearly be a new decision.

“The current decision would be that it is likely that if somebody bid enough money for any player, any player at this football club as you have seen over the last couple of windows, if someone offers enough money then they go”.

Everton need to keep Jarrad Branthwaite at all costs

If the start of the 2024/25 season showed the Toffees anything, it’s how important Branthwaite is to their defence, even if Dyche believes he still has “a lot of learning to do”.

While over the past couple of weeks, James Tarkowski and Michael Keane have put in a more than solid shift, there’s no denying the quality Branthwaite brings to the squad.

He’s had a fair few problems with injuries this season which is why his first-team role hasn’t been so regular but it feels like once he’s fully re-integrated into the squad, he’ll likely once again become invaluable to the squad.

Dyche held off on accepting any bids for the Englishman over the summer and the same thing needs to happen again in January.

The 22-year-old is one of the club’s most important players on his day and no doubt has an extremely bright future ahead of him.

Here’s hoping that the Friedkin Group’s takeover is completed soon so that Everton have some stronger ground to stand on in terms of negotiations.
