Wenham backs 'Incredible' Tottenham teen to make 40+ appearances this season

John Wenham has speculated that Lucas Bergvall will make more than 40 appearances for the Tottenham first team this season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has been left surprised by the impression that the 18-year-old has made during pre-season.

Bergvall has featured in all five of Spurs’ pre-season matches thus far.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – expects the midfielder to feature heavily throughout the upcoming campaign.

“At first I thought that Spurs’ coaching staff would take a look at Bergvall and decide whether to send him out on loan,” Wenham said.

“However, after watching him in pre-season, it appears as though is going straight into the first team, and when he does, he might not come out of it. I have been left surprised by this turn of events.

“He is incredible on the ball, he makes things happen and I could see him using the UEFA Europa League as a real springboard.

“Fans have criticised our lack of signings. However, I think in Bergvall we have a player who will make more than 40 appearances next season.”

It appears as though Bergvall is all set for a breakthrough season in North London.

The amount of minutes he has been handed during pre-season suggests that Ange Postecoglou has high expectations for the Swede.

And if he and Archie Gray can live up to their incredible potential, then Spurs might have a very exciting midfield duo to build around for years to come.
