John Wenham believes Will Lankshear will remain at Tottenham past the transfer deadline.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels the youngster would be wise to stick around in North London.

Lankshear has been named on the bench for Spurs’ pre-season clash with Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (10 August).

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested what he feels this decision indicates.

“Lankshear has put himself undeniably above Dane Scarlett in the pecking order,” Wenham said.

“He has been named on the bench against Bayern Munich, which means I think he will be sticking around until at least January.

“That way he can see what minutes he gets in the UEFA Europa League and off the bench in the Premier League. Overall, I think it is in Lankshear’s best interest to stick around and see what opportunities arise this season.”

Will Lankshear to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Lankshear is one of Spurs’ most talented young players and has got himself on the scoresheet twice during pre-season.

Therefore, Ange Postecoglou will no doubt have high hopes for the striker.

As a result, a loan move could be seen as beneficial for his development. However, if Postecoglou is willing to give Lankshear opportunities this season, that would prove far more useful.

The decision to name Lankshear on the bench ahead of Scarlett indicates how much the 19-year-old has climbed the ranks at Spurs, which could imply there will be minutes on offer to him, perhaps in the Europa League, this season.

In other Tottenham news, an “outstanding” transfer verdict has emerged after a player exit was confirmed.
