Wenham moots player stance as Euro club ready £25m for 'Outstanding' Tottenham star

John Wenham claims Guglielmo Vicario “is very happy” at Tottenham amid interest from Inter Milan.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is not surprised that the “outstanding” goalkeeper has been linked with a return to Italy.

According to a report from Milan Live (18 September), Inter Milan are prepared to offer Tottenham £25million for Vicario.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t see the move happening.

“I’d imagine that any Italian player who is doing well outside of Italy will naturally be linked with a return back to Italy,” Wenham said.

“It is the same when English players go abroad and do well. These are easy stories to run which normally have truth behind them. As a result, I’m not surprised Vicario is linked with Inter.

“However, I just can’t see it happening. He was signed last summer, he has a long-term contract, and he is very happy at Tottenham.

“He’s part of the leadership group, he is an outstanding goalkeeper, one of the top five in the Premier League. Therefore, I just don’t see this happening.”

Vicario is the undisputed number-one goalkeeper in North London. Therefore, it would be a surprise to see him sold.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King has even speculated that he could sign a brand-new contract with Spurs.

However, he has come under fire recently for some of his performances. Therefore, while alarm bells won’t yet be ringing, the 27-year-old will need to show some signs of improvement.

If not, Spurs’ stance on the player could very quickly change.
