John Wenham believes Tottenham will be forced to pay Tanguy Ndombele around £7.2million to terminate the Frenchman’s contract.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims the 27-year-old has been a “disaster” and will be happy to see him leave.

As reported by Football London (9 June), Spurs are in talks with Ndombele over terminating the final year of his contract.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this could prove costly.

“He only has a year left on his contract and he is earning around £200,000 per week,” Wenham said.

“That means he is earning £10.4million-per-year, and the club will need to pay probably about 70 per cent of that to him if they want to move him off the books.

“It is costly, but it is less than paying him in full over the year.

“He has been an absolute disaster for Tottenham, our worst-ever signing without a shadow of a doubt.

“I know there are still some people who believe he has something to offer, but he hasn’t shown us anything in 91 appearances and I am delighted he is leaving.”

Tottenham and Daniel Levy will be desperate to say goodbye to Tanguy Ndombele

Very few people could have predicted Ndombele’s career panning out the way it has.

When he arrived in the Premier League five years ago the midfielder looked destined to become a top player. He had all the talent in the world, but his attitude has sadly let him down.

Ndombele has been sent on loan three times during his time with Spurs, and none of those loan spells have proved to be successful.

Securing a fourth loan would have proved difficult and that has left Tottenham with little choice but to terminate the player’s contract.

While supporters will be delighted to see the back of the player, this potential £7.2million outlay could prove costly.

With Spurs linked with some big-money switches this summer, they could have used the extra cash.

And Levy will be incredibly frustrated that Spurs’ transfer plans in 2024 are being impacted by a failed move from 2019.
