Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has shared an update on his most recent injury after being forced off in their 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
The 23-year-old left the Stamford Bridge pitch in tears on the hour mark after suffering what seemed to be a hamstring injury, with the scoreline at 2-0.
Fofana missed the entirety of last season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in pre-season, totaling 51 games across all competitions.
Under new manager Enzo Maresca, however, he’s made an impressive comeback, starting all 12 of Chelsea’s Premier League games, yielding 1017 minutes of game time.
Speaking after the game, Maresca admitted Fofana is set to be out for “three, four or five weeks,” missing 12 games throughout the festive period.
Thankfully for Chelsea, they are well-stocked at centre-back, with Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi capable of stepping in at a moment’s notice.

Goals from Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernandez, and Cole Palmer secured a valuable three points for Chelsea to keep them in the Champions League spots.
Frustrated by his latest setback but happy to see his teammates get the win, Fofana took to Instagram to share an update with the fans.
Fofana said: “A slight muscle warning, as often happens after long injuries, nothing serious, the body is adjusting. We’ll come back stronger, as always. Trust your guy!”
Chelsea are back in action just three days later on Wednesday (December 4) as they travel to bottom-placed Southampton.
