West Ham fans: Lopetegui has 'lost the dressing room' after Jarrod Bowen reveal

West Ham fans are convinced Julen Lopetegui has already “lost the dressing room” after their defeat to Chelsea at the London Stadium.

The Hammers were picked apart by Enzo Maresca’s Blues side in a heavy 3-0 defeat after two goals from Nicolas Jackson and a third from Cole Palmer.

This meant West Ham have lost their first three home games of the season for the first time in their history, amid heightened pressure on the boss.

Lopetegui was visibly angry on the sidelines, but it was Jarrod Bowen’s quotes following the game which raised further concerns amongst the supporters.

Speaking to TNT Sports following the game (21 September), the captain looked downtrodden as he shared: “I don’t think we were ever in the game, which is probably an awful thing to say.

“But, if we’re being honest on the true reflection of the game, the goals they scored were very easy on our part, they were almost gifts.

“As a player and as captain, you have to rally everyone together. We gave them too much respect. It was a disappointing day, but the game’s done. We’ll work, with games coming thick and fast, to put that right.”

Football Insider revealed on 20 September that the board are not currently considering sacking Lopetegui despite their slow start to the season.

Sources say that, having backed the new manager heavily in the transfer market, the chief decision-makers are keen to give him time to work.

However, the extent of their financial backing has placed added pressure on the boss to deliver results, and their hands could be forced should things not improve.

Following David Moyes’ exit at the end of last season, many West Ham supporters wanted to see the club move in a new direction both on and off the pitch.

Those at the London Stadium had requested a new, more entertaining brand of football, but the new boss has yet to make any difference.

While results continue to prove frustrating after just one win from five league games, pressure on the manager’s position is continuing to grow.

Now, fans have taken to social media following Bowen’s interview to insist Lopetegui has “lost the dressing room”, while many are calling for him to be sacked.
