West Ham should be aiming for European qualification this season after adding Aaron Wan-Bissaka to their legion of summer signings.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Hammers striker Frank McAvennie believes West Ham fans will have plenty to celebrate this season following a busy transfer window and the appointment of new manager Julen Lopetegui.

The East London club spent an impressive £132.5million on ten new first-team players throughout the summer transfer window, the fifth-highest outlay in the Premier League.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Max Kilman, and Niclas Fullkrug all signed permanently, whereas Jean-Clair Todibo and Carlos Soler joined on loan from French sides Nice and PSG respectively.

West Ham tipped to crash top six party this season

Lopetegui’s side have had a mixed start to the season, with wins against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth but losses to Aston Villa and reigning champions Man City.

Kilman is the only major signing to have been given consistent football in the early stages of the season, starting and finishing all of West Ham’s four games.

“If they play the way they’re playing, they can finish in top six, top seven”, McAvennie told Football Insider.

“The fans are going to enjoy the football under this manager, they’re going to enjoy the way they play from now on.

“If they can get that defence and get a good back four, we’ve got the boy from Man United (Aaron Wan-Bissaka), good players in there now, it’s a decent team.

“I don’t see us struggling, I really don’t. If these boys can hit the ground quite quick and get up and running, sometimes it takes people a few weeks.

“If they can come in and work with everyone else, I can see us doing well this year, I can see us certainly challenging for the Europa League or Europe Conference League spots, that’s for sure.

“I’m not going to suggest we’re going to get into the top four, but I think we’ll give people a fright this year.”

In other news, West Ham fans savage Emerson for what he did in 3-1 defeat vs Man City.
