'What's going on?' - Kris Boyd shares main cause of anger at Rangers on Sky Sports

Kris Boyd believes performances under Philippe Clement are the main cause of anger for Rangers fans, not the results.

The Gers have struggled since the start of the 2024/25 season, sitting nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

Speaking to Sky Sports [6 November], Boyd insists that the anger at Ibrox has gone past results, with questions consistently being asked.

“I think it’s got the stage where you look at a lot of Rangers fans and listen to a lot of them; usually when you’re not playing, everyone focuses on let’s get results. I think it’s past that now,” he said.

“A lot of people are actually looking at, the results is one thing, but the performances are nowhere good enough for a Rangers team. And that’s where the anger is coming from a lot of people.

“They’re asking, ‘Is there a style of play? What’s going on? You’re hoping that someone does something.”

Philippe Clement has no love lost among Rangers fanbase

Disappointment is at an all-time high since Clement’s appointment at the Bears last year.

The Belgian came in and made sweeping changes to the team after the end of Michael Beale’s challenging spell in the dugout.

For a short while, it seemed like the marriage between Rangers and the former Monaco head coach had been made in heaven, with the team lifting the Scottish League Cup and pushing for the title.

This season has proved that Clement can no longer be trusted to be in charge of the Light Blues, with some atrocious performances and results already.

The Gers have already lost to Celtic, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen in the league, and even the 2-1 win over Motherwell in the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup wasn’t encouraging.

Philippe Clement is struggling at Rangers.

A win over Olympiacos on 7 November in the Europa League might buy Clement some time, but what will matter at the end of the day is his ability to get the team back on track in the Scottish Premiership, which looks like an arduous task.
