'Wild' - Tom English reacts to what Graeme Souness said about Rangers

Tom English was left aghast at Graeme Souness’ take on Rangers’ humbling defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

Souness, while live on talkSPORT (2 September), listed off numerous stats such as shots on target, possession and shots off target and claimed that the game “wasn’t one-sided”.

English, though, thought Souness’ take was a little out there and left a one-word response via X (3 September) that simply stated: “Wild.”

Rangers find themselves in Celtic’s shadow once again

As has been the case since Steven Gerrard left Ibrox, the Gers have found themselves struggling to compete with Brendan Rodgers’ men.

The likes of Robin Propper and Connor Barron joined [Scottish Sun, 23 August] in the transfer window to try and strengthen the squad but the early evidence is that the Gers are still miles off the pace.

The Gers currently lie fourth in the Scottish Premiership and have a five-point margin to Celtic to make up already, a gap they can simply not afford to let grow any bigger.

We’re only four games into the domestic season but if things aren’t turned around soon, they could go from bad to worse, especially for Clement.

The Belgium manager’s role is already being questioned and pressure has started to build around where his future may lie [PLZ Soccer, 2 September].

However, one thing that was clear before the season started was that the Gers’ board have faith in the former Club Brugge boss as they extended his stay with the club.

Only time will tell if Clement will be able to turn the tides and get his team performing once again.
