Liverpool Exclusive: Transfer guru shares huge Trent update tonight

Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to join Real Madrid upon the expiry of his Liverpool contract in the summer of 2025.

This is according to former Man United, Tottenham and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, exclusively told Football Insider that there is a “very strong possibility” that the deal will go through.

It was said that Alexander-Arnold wants to join Los Blancos despite Liverpool’s desire for him to commit his long-term future to the club.

With less than a year remaining on his contract, the 26-year-old will be free to discuss a move abroad from January onwards, and there is a growing belief that he will leave.

Football Insider revealed on 17 October that Jude Bellingham is expected to play a key role in convincing the Liverpool man to make the move to Spain.

Now, Brown has insisted that it would have been a straightforward decision to remain at Liverpool if any other club aside from Real Madrid came calling.

However, the allure of becoming the latest “Galactico” signing at the Bernabeu will prove too much for the defender to turn down.

Following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid, the club have targeted Alexander-Arnold as their latest superstar signing to add to a star-studded squad.

Brown worked with top players throughout his career including in over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, and he insisted that Liverpool want the defender to stay but will be powerless to change his mind.

“I’m told he wants to go to Madrid,” he told Football Insider.

“From the player’s point of view, a move to Real Madrid will always appeal.

“The manager there already knows him from his days on Merseyside.

“And if his contract situation is such that it allows him to explore a deal in January, I’ve heard there’s a very strong possibility that move will happen.

“If you took Real Madrid out of the equation, any talk over his exit would be a non-story.

“Liverpool don’t want him to go and he wouldn’t want to move.

“But you throw Madrid into the running and all of a sudden it all changes.

“I fully expect that move to happen, and as much as Liverpool will want him to stay, turning down the chance to become a Galactico at Madrid would be too much to ask.”
