Wilfred Ndidi reaches agreement with Leicester City for three-year contract

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi, has agreed to sign a new contract with Leicester City, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old versatile midfielder has been a Leicester player since moving from KRC Genk in the winter transfer window of 2017, spending over seven years at the club, and etching his name into their history by winning three trophies.

His contract with the 2016 English Premier League Champions ran out last month, and as a free agent, the Nigerian has been linked with several clubs including Galatasaray, Trabzonspor, Everton and Celtic, as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Ndidi has agreed to sign a new deal that will see him stay at the King Power Stadium till the summer of 2027. The new contract will also include a release clause, considering the 27-year-old wants to play with bigger teams in the future.

In Ndidi’s first four full seasons in the English top flight, he was in the league’s top two players with the most tackles and interceptions combined.

After Jamie Vardy, Ndidi is City’s longest-serving player, making 273 appearances for the Foxes, putting him 38th in the club’s all-time rankings.
