'World-class' Arsenal player could be ruled out of rest of pre-season due to injury

One Arsenal player’s luck with injuries has been terrible over the years.

Mikel Arteta has built an amazing squad at Arsenal. The Gunners have top-quality players in every position on the pitch, and that’s why they are serious title contenders.

The Premier League runners-up have just returned to North London after their pre-season tour in the United States. They faced Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool there, but only managed one win – against Erik ten Hag’s side.

However, it was a great experience for all the players who travelled, and the most important thing is that nobody got injured.

However, one player who missed the Arsenal tour due to an injury could now be ruled out of the Emirates Cup as well.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is a big doubt for Arsenal’s remaining pre-season games

Takehiro Tomiyasu joined Arsenal from Bologna back in the summer of 2021.

The Japan international, branded as ‘world-class’ by Ben White, became an instant fan favourite at the Emirates following his debut against Norwich City nearly three years ago. He is a brilliant player, but injuries have been really cruel to him.

Since joining Arsenal, Tomiyasu has missed a total of 40 competitive games due to four different injury issues. It has been really frustrating for him.

Sadly, Tomiyasu suffered another injury just before Arsenal’s pre-season tour. That forced him to stay back in North London.

Mikel Arteta described Tomiyasu’s injury as ‘unbelievable’ and was really disappointed for the Japanese defender because he had been working so hard.

Now, there could be more bad news.

The Athletic have revealed that Tomiyasu’s availability for the remainder of this pre-season is very ‘doubtful’. There is a chance he will miss the Emirates Cup games against Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon.

Whether Tomiyasu will be fit enough to return for the start of the new Premier League season remains to be seen.

Another Arsenal player has been ruled out of pre-season

Tomiyasu’s injury is a real shame, but Arsenal can cope with it this time.

The Gunners have Ben White, Jurrien Timber, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko and new signing Riccardo Calafiori all fit and capable of playing in the full-back positions.

Tomiyasu, however, isn’t the only Arsenal player who is injured.

The report claims that Kieran Tierney, who has returned after his loan at Real Sociedad, is also ruled out for the rest of Arsenal’s pre-season.

Tierney is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, but if he doesn’t recover from his injury in the coming weeks, he may miss out on a move in this window.

That would be a huge blow for Arsenal and Tierney.
