'Worst time' - Finance Expert issues verdict on naming rights for Everton stadium

Stefan Borson believes that it is the worst time for stadium naming rights as along with Everton, West Ham, Tottenham and Manchester United are also now potential options.

The finance expert reacted to an update from the Athletic on 26 June that discussions have taken place for naming rights at Old Trafford – something that has not happened for 114 years.

The Toffees’ new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock also does not have any sponsor agreement thus far.

Via Twitter, Borson wrote: “Nobody can really believe that this has not been explored multiple times over the years both via inbound enquiry and outbound search. Pretty much the worst time in the last 10 years to try and find the value they want for this:

• lots of other assets around (Spurs, West Ham, Everton etc)
• FOS more challenging than ever
• interest rates
• no CL/8th
• lack of headline acts”
