Dan Friedkin could appoint Lina Souloukou as the new CEO at Everton after her departure from Roma, according to The Esk.
The Toffees financial blogger posted on X (26 September) that, after Souloukou’s exit from Stadio Olimpico, Friedkin could re-appoint her once his takeover at Goodison Park is completed.
Friedkin has agreed a deal with Farhad Moshiri to buy his 94.1 per cent stake in the Toffees, and is expected to take a hands-on role at the club [Sky Italy, 24 September], with the Esk believing Souloukou could be by his side.
The Esk said: “Just throwing this out there, I would not be surprised if Lina Souloukou becomes the new CEO of Everton once the takeover is completed.”
Lina Souloukou hire could be Dan Friedkin’s first mistake at Everton
It’s highly likely that Dan Friedkin and his son Ryan are flavour of the month on the blue half of Merseyside for quite some time, given they’re set to bring the Toffees’ takeover saga to an end.
With the reckless leadership of Farhad Moshiri finally a thing of the past, as well as dodging a 777 Partners-shaped bullet, Blues fans will see Friedkin’s arrival as the light at the end of the tunnel.
However, that’s the exact opposite of how Roma fans are feeling about their American owner at the moment, with Friedkin’s sacking of club legend Danielle De Rossi leading to uproar in the Italian capital.
It also led to the resignation of Souloukou herself on 22 September [The Athletic], with much of the ire surrounding De Rossi’s dismissal being laid at her door as a representative of Friedkin’s ownership.
Therefore, despite the Friedkin Group’s new takeover presenting the opportunity of a clean slate for Souloukou, her damaged reputation in Rome could lead to Toffees fans distrusting the judgement of Friedkin before he’s even got through the doors at Goodison.
In other Everton news, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on a “fantastic” manager Friedkin could hire if Sean Dyche is sacked.
