'100%' - Former Premier League striker confirms desire to join Rangers, talks already held

Oli McBurnie has once again confirmed his desire to secure a move to Rangers and has stated that talks have been held with the Ibrox outfit.

As his deal at Sheffield United expired in June, the Scotland international was a free agent this summer before he moved to Las Palmas and has revealed that this year was the only year he had not heard from the Glasgow club.

Still only 28, the former Premier League striker with Sheffield United admits that he’d love to sign for Gers at some stage in the future.

He told Open Goal as quoted by the Scottish Sun on 3 September: “To be fair this was the only year when I’ve not heard anything from them.

“There’s always been talks but nothing has really come of it – whether it has been the right time for me or them.

“Yeah 100% – at one point in my life.

“But I don’t think now is the right for me to do it, I’ve signed for three years.”

“It’s one of them. Obviously I was a free contract in the summer.”

Oli McBurnie is very likely to end up at Rangers one day

McBurnie’s potential signing for Gers would align with both the club’s needs and fan expectations.

As a Scotland international, the 28-year-old’s familiarity with the physical demands of international football could translate well into the Scottish Premiership’s intensity.

His love for Rangers, already publicly expressed, suggests a deep emotional connection which could foster a strong bond with the supporters, enhancing team spirit and fan engagement.

Despite his move to Las Palmas, McBurnie’s track record of finding the net, particularly in lower-tier English football, indicates he could be effective in the Scottish league, where scoring prowess is highly valued.

His experience in the Premier League with Sheffield United also means he’s accustomed to high-pressure environments, which could be crucial in pivotal matches.

For Gers, McBurnie represents not just a player but a symbol of passion for the club, potentially becoming a fan favourite.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has savaged a senior figure at the club as he’s gone on a ‘Mad Rant’ about the situation.
