Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy looks to have once again attempted to act in the best interest of the club’s finances, rather than its supporters.

It is fair to say that Levy often isn’t the most popular man in North London.

Although he has helped Spurs grow commercially, and in turn boosted the club’s finances, a lot of the decisions he and the club make are often at the expense of hard-working, loyal supporters.

It wasn’t long ago that Alasdair Gold was pointing out via his personal X account (4 June) the “mad” cost of Spurs’ brand-new home kit for the 2024/25 season.

In addition, earlier this year the club became embroiled in a disagreement with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust after they decided to scrap season-ticket concessions for seniors.

And Levy looks to have once again risked upsetting fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Spurs’ response to a recent UEFA decision emerged.

UEFA announced via their official website on Monday (2 September) that maximum ticket prices for away supporters in this year’s European competitions would be decreasing.

The maximum amount a home club can charge visiting supporters in the UEFA Champions League this season is £50, while in the Europa League, it is £42, and £16 in the Conference League.

However, according to the Telegraph (3 September), Tottenham were among at least three clubs to have raised objections to the reductions, with the North London outfit refusing to disclose how they voted when contacted by Telegraph Sport.

This is yet another example of Levy putting supporters second.

While his concern would have no doubt been what he could charge opposing fans visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in Europe, he failed to think about how raising objections to the reductions would impact his club’s own fans.

Had the reductions not come into place, Spurs supporters would have potentially been required to pay much more when travelling around Europe to other stadiums, something which is clearly of no concern to Levy.

Luckily for supporters, the reductions did go ahead. However, Levy has once again found a way to upset supporters in North London, even in light of good news.

In other Tottenham news, one player on loan from the club has been backed to shine despite his recent struggles.
