£30m Everton star player exit now 'plausible' - report

Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is poised for a potential £30million transfer exit amid Manchester United’s interest, according to The Athletic.

The online outlet reported on Tuesday (July 9) that with just one year remaining on his contract and a refusal to sign new terms, the Toffees are open to selling the 27-year-old this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.

On top of that, the club’s tight financial situation makes a £30million deal appealing, especially with United also seeing the fee as “plausible” following internal transfer talks.

Calvert-Lewin, who has been with Everton since 2016, has played an important role in helping the team avoid relegation in the last couple of seasons but has struggled with injuries.

Should Everton accept a £30million fee for Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

Everton are facing a big decision: should they accept £30million for Calvert-Lewin?

On one hand, the 27-year-old has been an important player over the years and, despite his injuries last season, still managed to score seven goals in the Premier League.

Losing him could hurt the Toffees the next season, however, he only has a year left on his contract and doesn’t want to renew.

If Everton don’t sell him now, they might lose him for free next summer. Financially, £30million is a significant amount for the Toffees, especially given their recent financial struggles.

This money could be used to strengthen other areas of the squad. Plus, his injury history means there is a risk in holding on to him.

While it’s tough to let go of a player who has contributed a lot, selling him now might be the smartest move. Everton can use the funds to rebuild and ensure a stronger future.
