Everton have once again quickly thrown out another offer from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

Reports suggested the Red Devils had approached the Toffees with an improved bid of £45million with £5million to come in add-ons, but that deal still falls a long way short of Sean Dyche’s side’s valuation [Alan Myers, 9 July].

The message from within Old Trafford has continued to be that United believe the Blues’ asking price is too high and it had appeared as though Erik ten Hag’s side had already begun to look at alternative targets.

It has been reported that United had a bid accepted for Lille defender Leny Yoro upwards of £50million [Manchester Evening News, 9 July] while talks continue over a move for Matthijs de Ligt.

The Red Devil’s push for other targets suggested Branthwaite was no longer a priority, however, an update from MEN journalist Samuel Luckhurs suggests they could still return with another offer for the 22-year-old.

Reporting via X on Tuesday (9 July) Luckhurst said: “Manchester United open to signing three centre-backs this summer.

“Offer for Leny Yoro has been accepted and is believed to be more than €60m.”

Will Manchester United submit another bid for Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite?

If United are genuinely open to signing three new central defender as Luckhurst has reported, it seems likely that they will not end their interest in Branthwaite this summer just because their bid for Yoro has been accepted.

Although Everton have made it very clear they will not sell the England international unless their valuation is met during the transfer window, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Red Devils test their luck with another low offer.

Considering the fact they are willing to spend upwards of £50million on Yoro who is unproven in the Premier League, it does seem ridiculous that they are not happy to pay the fee required to tempt the Toffees into a sale.

Either way, even after new developments at Old Trafford over the last 24 hours, it doesn’t seem as though United will have given up in the race for Branthwaite this summer.

In other Everton news, Galatasaray’s stance on a summer sale of Davinson Sanchez has been mooted as they wait for a new bid from the Toffees
