Dan Bardell: Everton loan signing would be 'Brilliant' as £25m-rated ace linked

Dan Bardell believes Everton are better off signing Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea instead of signing him permanently.

Tutto Mercato has reported (4 July) that the Toffees are in “pole position” to sign the Albanian ahead of AC Milan.

The Londoners are demanding a fee in the region of £25million for the 22-year-old as they look to raise transfer funds.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the fee may prove to be a stumbling block and has suggested that Everton might be better off giving Beto a chance next season.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “His loan spell at Southampton feels like a long time ago and he was quite successful there.

I think it’s a difficult one for Everton because they already have a striker they’ve invested a lot of money in, in Beto. Going and keeping him as a backup for another signing doesn’t really make sense. They have to show some faith in him.

If they could get Broja on a loan deal then that would be brilliant because there would be less financial pressure.

In saying that, a loan doesn’t really suit Chelsea who probably want to cash in. Given his form in recent seasons, £25m is a lot to spend on Broja and maybe too much for Everton.

Everton to back Beto over Armando Broja signing

The Portuguese forward was only signed from Udinese for £25.75 million [Sky Sports] during the last summer transfer window.

Beto was only afforded 939 Premier League appearances under Sean Dyche where he registered three goals and no assists [FotMob].

This compares similarly to Broja who scored one league goal across 21 appearances for both Fulham and Chelsea last campaign [FotMob].

For the difference in goal output between the two, it could prove to be a costly mistake to sign the Albania international.

The ripple effect of this transfer could be a deal that could see Dominic Calvert-Lewin go to Newcastle United.

If the Englishman departs then Broja could be a useful alternative but Dyche may be forced into handing Beto another chance to prove himself.
