Jarrad Branthwaite could be facing a move away from Everton in the January transfer window with Manchester United holding internal talks over a deal, according to The Mail Online.
After plenty of transfer interest over the summer transfer window, the 22-year-old is not keen on signing a new deal with the Blues meaning he currently has three years remaining on his £70,000-a-week contract.
While Everton are keen to stand by their £70million valuation of their player, manager Sean Dyche has admitted that if the right offer was to arise, they may be forced to sell.
Therefore, with just weeks to go before the transfer window opens again, there will be plenty of conversations taking place at Goodison regarding Branthwaite’s future.
Everton in a strong position with Branthwaite
While Everton fans will not be looking forward to another transfer window where interest in Branthwaite could be leading the headlines, with his current deal not expiring until 2027 it does buy the Toffees some time in making sure they get a good deal for their man.
Given the defender has not signed a new contract so far, it seems a certainty that he will be leaving Goodison at some point in the future and that departure could be to Old Trafford as Manchester United seem to be keeping their sights set on Branthwaite.
That being said, the Red Devils were not willing to match Everton’s expectations on price in the summer and until they can offload some of their other defenders it may not be possible.
But with no pressure on Dyche to sell just yet Everton can afford to play the long game and make sure that when they do lose their man it’s for the right price, making the most of his talent in a Blues shirt in the meantime.
