Armando Broja is back in first-team training at Everton and is expected to feature for the Under-21s shortly, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The news outlet reports [20 November] that the striker has returned from his Achilles injury, and it’s anticipated that the Albanian will get a few outings with the youth team before the senior squad.
Broja joined the Toffees in the summer on loan from Chelsea but the 23-year-old is yet to feature for the club in a competitive game this season.
Everton can’t wait for Armando Broja return
Goalscoring has been an issue at the Blues for several years now, with Romelu Lukaku the last player at the club to score more than 20 goals in the league back in the 2016/17 season.
In the previous campaign, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were Everton’s top scorers in the Premier League, with seven goals each, which isn’t an encouraging statistic.
Going into this season, the Toffees knew they needed to bolster the forward line and add more prolificity to their ranks.
Broja’s fitness issues have been unfortunate, but it also goes to show the lack of planning by Kevin Thelwell and his team.
Calvert-Lewin is in the last year of his contract at the Blues, and whether the 27-year-old will extend his stay at Goodison remains to be seen.
While Everton do have a purchase option in their deal for Broja, the 23-year-old needs to show what he can do consistently in the second half of the campaign to convince the club to make his move permanent.
In other Everton news, an update from Manchester United has emerged in their pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite.
