'Absolute class' - Pundit blown away by what Rangers star did recently

Connor Barron has been dubbed “absolute class” by Peter Martin after what he did for Rangers against Hearts on Sunday.

Barron was one of the best players for the Light Blues before being replaced by Dujon Sterling in the 66th minute as they beat Hearts 1-0 on 10 November.

Martin was particularly blown away by an instance in the first half when the 22-year-old bypassed several opposition players with a single pass.

“Boy did the Rangers fans not like him getting taken off”, Martin said on PLZ Soccer on Monday, 11 November.

“By the way, for a young boy, and again remember this is his first season with Rangers, he played a pass, I think it was the first half, he played it right down the middle and he took out about five or six Hearts players with it and set Rangers on their attack. It was an absolute class pass.”

Rangers may have won their game against Hearts, but their performance was far from ideal, with Barron being one of only a few standout performers.

The midfielder has been a consistent performer for Philippe Clement’s side this season, especially in the past few weeks. It is no surprise that he has been called up to the Scotland national team for the November international break.

The Tartan Army face Croatia and Poland in the UEFA Nations League on 15 and 18 November, and Barron is likely to make his senior bow at the international level.

The Kintore-born midfielder has been so good for the Gers in recent weeks that the decision to hook him against Hearts was received with boos.

Martin was not the only pundit surprised by Clement’s decision as Roger Hannah brought up the example of Celtic’s Callum McGregor to question the manager over his call.

Clement will, nevertheless, be hopeful that the former Aberdeen man returns from international duty unscathed.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues have been told to get rid of this senior player after fans turned on him.
