'Again': Sky reporter spots £12.5m Liverpool player looking 'sharp' in training ahead of AC Milan

Liverpool fans will be desperate to see their new summer signing, Federico Chiesa, in action, and they may just get the chance real soon.

Arne Slot faces his first setback as Liverpool boss after seeing his side lose 1-0 to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League last time out.

However, there is no time to dwell on things as AC Milan are up next in the opening game of the Champion League’s new format, with a trip to the San Siro.

The Italian club have been in poor form to start the season, with just one win in their opening four Serie A games, but they did put in a dominant performance last time out against Venezia in a 4-0 win.

One player Liverpool haven’t unleashed yet is Federico Chiesa, who joined for around £12.5 million in the summer transfer window.

Interestingly, Sky Sports reporter Vinnie O’Connor has shared exactly how the Italian has been performing in training ahead of the AC Milan clash…

Federico Chiesa’s move to Liverpool even excited Fabrizio Romano, who described him as the Reds’ ‘perfect’ signing.

Interestingly, Liverpool chiefs hope that the midfielder can emulate Diogo Jota, with fans waiting patiently to see their new man in action.

His first appearance appears to be getting closer, as Sky Sports reporter Vinnie O’Connor provided an exciting update on what he had seen from him in training.

“What he’s been doing during the international break, he was working with the U21s, building up his fitness. Last week when we spoke to Arne Slot, he said Chiesa had been able to train with the main first-team group around three or four times,”

“He was out there again today, he looked relatively sharp as well. It will be something the Liverpool coach needs to weigh up.

How many minutes could Federico Chiesa get vs AC Milan?

According to the Standard, Arne Slot has stated that Chiesa is in contention to feature against AC Milan after building up fitness in training.

Why we brought him…I bring in quality players and I believe he is.

“Combines quality with work rate and the culture of this club, this team, he brings that with combinations of several positions. He is with the team and since I said it is the first time he is here, it would be a big surprise if he starts tomorrow.

“So I don’t think you should expect him to start but he will make some minutes if we needed him. But the first time with us, I don’t expect him to start with us. He’s had some training time and too early to play 90 mins but hopefully some minutes in the upcoming fixtures.”

So, it looks from this as if Chiesa could be set for a debut appearance late on for the Reds.

There really is no reason to chuck him in at the deep end if he’s not ready, as Slot has so many options available in the final third, including the likes of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz.
