Alan Myers responds to Everton transfer question amid PSR deadline

Alan Myers has admitted he is not aware of any incoming or outgoing deals expected to take place at Everton on PSR deadline day.

Sunday 30 June is the final day of the Premier League’s financial year and therefore teams are rushing to balance their books and ensure that they don’t risk receiving a point deduction next term, like the Toffees.

Sean Dyche’s side were hit by two separate deductions last term for PSR breaches, but don’t appear to be desperate to offload players this summer, with Sky Sports’ Myers insisting no deals are in the pipeline.

Replying to a fan who asked whether any transfers were expected via X on Sunday (30 June) he said: “Not aware of anything at this stage.”

Could Everton breach Premier League profit and sustainability rules?

Things can change very quickly in the transfer window so it would be naive to assume that this means there definitely won’t be any movement in or out of Goodison today, but at this moment it seems unlikely.

While some supporters will obviously be disappointed to hear that the Toffees won’t be adding to Dyche’s side, it probably reflects where the Blues stand financially at this exact moment in time.

Unlike Newcastle United, they are not desperately trying to sell players to balance the books and avoid another point deduction, but they are also not in a position to be throwing money around recklessly to secure new players.

With the new financial year just around the corner and targets close to making the switch to Goodison Park, it won’t be too long until one or two more fresh faces arrive on Merseyside ahead of the start of next season.

Hopefully, the Toffees will be able to enjoy a season without any off-the-field issues under new ownership as that would make a welcome change from the chaos of the last few campaigns.
