Ianis Hagi looks set to leave Rangers imminently with a potential loan-to-buy exit on the cards, according to The 4th Official’s Gary Morris.

Speaking on the outlet’s 9 August YouTube bulletin he indicated that movement was expected on the Romanian’s future “over the coming days” with it “very much expected that he will be moving on”.

The 25-year-old has been left with the B Team during the preseason and has been heavily linked with a move to Fiorentina, but a concrete bid has reportedly not yet arrived.

It is apparently not yet clear whether Hagi’s exit will be a permanent deal or an initial loan, but Morris expects a permanent obligation to be involved if it is the latter, as with Jose Cifuentes’ impending switch to Aris Thessaloniki [Glasgow Times, 9 August].

Philippe Clement continues Rangers clear out

Hagi has been reported to have agreed personal terms to head to former side Fiorentina [SportpeSure, 21 July], and there is also said to be a £2million fee in the equation [DigiSport, 26 July].

But as yet the move hasn’t gone through and if Philippe Clement has no plans for him in Glasgow then an exit really can’t come soon enough.

The Belgian needs funds and as much space on the wage bill as he can gather if he wants to complete any key late signings before the transfer deadline.

If Hagi is to go on loan in the first instance it would surely be a disappointment to the manager if it delays the full financial benefit until next year, with Ibrox News pundit Derek Ferguson having predicted the wouldn’t get the money they wanted for a deal.

Rangers Philippe Clement
Philippe Clement needs to push through Rangers exits to make key signings.

The club’s handling of the 39-cap international has bewildered some journalists [Hotline Live, 6 August] but at this stage of the summer if Clement wants his own people in he is going to need to continue the clear out as quickly as possible.

Sam Lammers and Connor Goldson have both been sold for useful fees, but with the likes of Hagi and Todd Cantwell, defender Ridvan Yilmaz [Fotomac, 6 August] and winger Scott Wright linked to exits, and bids failing to materialise for Cyriel Dessers [Chris Jack, 7 August] there remains plenty of uncertainty for the Light Blues.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have made a move to land a Premier League wonderkid on a move that could be permanent.
