David Moyes possibly returning to Everton has been raised by talkSPORT host Rory Jennings as pressure grows on Sean Dyche following the 3-2 loss to Bournemouth.

The claim was made on talkSPORT [31 August, 20:08] with presenter Jennings taking calls from disgruntled Blues fans after a third consecutive Premier League defeat.

An Everton fan said they’ll walk away from the club if Dyche remains in charge for the match against Aston Villa, to which Jennings replied: “Are you serious?”

Jennings then added: “Can I just say a name to you if you genuinely want this. Is the answer David Moyes?”

Will David Moyes return to Everton to replace Sean Dyche?

While a potential successor can be the subject of speculation, if there is one certainty it is that Dyche is facing a race against time to save his Everton job.

The finances at Goodison Park have restricted the Blues in the transfer market this summer; nevertheless, Kevin Thelwell has worked wonders with the limited budget to bolster the side.

Dyche has used only Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Harrison in the Premier League, with Jake O’Brien and Jasper Lindstrom still awaiting their full league debuts.

It is perhaps time to throw the patient approach out the window and use the international break to integrate the new signings into the side before the trip to Aston Villa on 14 September.

Sean Dyche is facing new pressure at Everton

With Chelsea striker Armando Broja and Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala joining the Blues on deadline day, there are plenty of new additions at Goodison Park to rejuvenate a depleted Everton side.

A new manager could well be on the cards if Dyche fails to get results in the next few weeks and, while a sentimental fan would welcome the return of Moyes to the dugout, Everton would be best served looking for a young and hungry candidate rather than trying to relive the glory days of past.
