Gabriel Jesus admits he is growing frustrated at Arsenal and wants ‘more minutes’ under Mikel Arteta.

Jesus made a big impact at the Emirates Stadium following his £45m move from Manchester City in 2022 and was credited with improving standards at Arsenal.

The Brazil international enjoyed huge success at Man City – lifting four Premier League trophies and four domestic cups – but pushed to leave in order to get more minutes and in the hope of becoming a focal point in Arsenal’s team.

That was certainly the case in Jesus’ first season in north London, the 27-year-old making 33 appearances in all competitions as Arsenal came close to winning the league.

Jesus continued to feature heavily for the Gunners last season but endured a lengthy goal drought after Christmas, scoring just one goal in 18 games.

The forward went another 11 games without a goal this season before finally ending his drought in the Carabao Cup win over Championship side Preston.

Due to his dip in form, Jesus has only started one Premier League game so far this season and admits his current situation is ‘not the best’.

‘Well, I believe that not only me, but any player, all players, want to have more minutes,’ Jesus told TNT Sports Brasil after Arsenal’s Champions League defeat to Inter Milan.

‘I’m obviously never going to cause anything in the club, I’m going to try to demonstrate on a daily basis, in training, and when I get into the games, have my chance, and do my thing and trust that things will happen.

‘I’ve always made it very clear that I want to improve, that I want to try to do my best and help Arsenal.

‘Obviously, my moment is not the best, it’s not the moment I wanted, that I would like, but as I said, I’m working on my own, trying to do my best, and get more minutes to play, but that’s a consequence of my training, it’s a consequence of the way I get in and leave the decision to the coach.

‘I believe in my potential, and I also know that the fight for my place in Arsenal is big, but I also believe that I can help a lot.’

Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat in Milan was their third in six games following disappointing Premier League setbacks against Newcastle United and Bournemouth.

Speaking after the Inter Milan loss, Arteta said: ‘I am very proud of my players and the level of domination we had. We were very harshly done by in the sense that is obvious. Both penalties.

‘If you are going to give a penalty, the other one has to be because he punches him in the head.

‘There is no deflection, nothing you can do in the box, so can he get away from it. If he is going to give that, the other has to be 100% a penalty.

‘We should have scored a couple at least but the way the team played, that was us at least. Every decision in the box makes a difference. The way we played tonight, the team can go to Chelsea and win.’
