'Frustration': Glenn Hoddle says one Tottenham player well and truly 'lost his head' at Galatasaray tonight

Tottenham Hotspur were hoping to make it four Europa League wins in a row when they took on Galatasaray on Thursday night.
However, Spurs ended up having a bad day at the office as the hosts ran out 3-2 winners over Ange Postecoglou’s charges.
Tottenham conceded after just six minutes when Yunus Akgun fired a first-time volley from the edge of the box into the top-right corner of the net.
However, Will Lankshear equalised for Spurs in the 19th minute, the teenager tapping in following good work from Brennan Johnson and Archie Gray.
Tottenham’s lead lasted for 13 minutes as Victor Osimhen made the most of Radu Dragusin’s mistake to toe-poke the ball into the bottom-right corner.
Osimhen then added a third for Galatasaray in the 40th minute, meeting a neat Dries Mertens cross with a side-footed volley low into Fraser Forster’s net.
Things got worse for Tottenham on the hour mark when Lankshear, already on a booking, made a rash tackle on Gabriel Sara and was sent off.
To their credit, Spurs pulled a goal back in the 69th minute, Pedro Porro firing a low ball across the area which Dominic Solanke turned in with a lovely flick.
Tottenham continued to push for an equaliser, with Dejan Kulusevski missing a golden chance late on, but ultimately they couldn’t get over the line.
Glenn Hoddle says Will Lankshear ‘lost his head’
Glenn Hoddle was not particularly impressed with the tackle Lankshear made that led to his sending-off.
The White Hart Lane icon speculated that Lankshear acted out because of frustration and forgot he was on a booking.
“I think it was born out of frustration,” Hoddle said on TNT Sports (7/11/2024, 7:08pm).
“As a youngster, Will Lankshear has lost his head and forgot he is on a yellow.”
What Hoddle said about Lankshear’s first Tottenham senior goal
Earlier in the game, Hoddle was buzzing with Lankshear after he netted his first senior goal for Tottenham.
“What a fantastic feeling for the young man,” said the Tottenham legend (7/11/2024, 6:07pm).
“A lovely ball from Archie Gray, he dinks a lovely weighted pass to Brenan Johnson and Lankshear is onside.
“Lankshear with his first senior goal. Fabulous response from Tottenham.”
As disappointed as Lankshear will be over his sending-off, it’s a relatively minor setback and one that he’ll no doubt learn from.
After all, he did score, and Postecoglou thinks very highly of him, saying he loves to watch him train.
Tottenham have one more competitive game before the international break as they host Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
