'Baffles the life out of me' - Pundit confused by what Clement did to Rangers man at Hampden

Gordan Dalziel has admitted new developments involving Rangers striker Danilo at Hampden Park have left him “baffled” in recent weeks.

The Brazilian striker is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Light Blues in 2024, despite being named on the bench for the Gers’ opening four matches of the new campaign.

Ahead of the Light Blues” Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv at Hampden, Danilo was seen on social media limping into the ground and Open Goal pundit has been left confused by his situation in Glasgow.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (15 August, 17:00) he said: “There are so many things that have happened to Rangers that have baffled the life out of me.

“Like say, Danilo for instance. That baffles the life out of me. He’s not kicked a ball yet. There’s a video of him walking into Hampden and he’s walking into Hampden like we had a night out with a curry.

“That could be anything, but he’s a £5.5million player, you’re getting put out of the Champions League playoffs, you need goals and he puts Propper on.”

It does seem bizarre that despite supposedly now being fully fit and ready to play competitive football, Danilo has yet to even step foot on the pitch in a competitive fixture so far this season.

Philippe Clement is not exactly blessed with striking options at Ibrox either, with Cyriel Dessers the only available option to the Belgian as Hamza Igamane continues to be left out of matchday squads following his summer transfer.

If Danilo was as fit as has been suggested, there is no way he would have stayed rooted to the bench against Dynamo Kyiv or even against Hearts when the Gers were chasing a goal late on at Tynecastle.

Surely there must be more going on than meets the eye when it comes to the Brazilian. As Dalziel suggests, his continued absence is baffling and there has been very little word from the club itself as to why he is yet to play.
